As the creative and construction delivery component of NCCU’s Facilities Management Unit, Planning, Design and Construction (PDC) is committed to providing the highest order of customer service by diligently assessing the physical needs of the campus; articulating design ideas in innovative, aesthetic and cost-sensitive ways; and delivering construction projects in a timely manner with strict adherence to scope and budget.
To this end, PDC provides its team with the latest information on changes in state policies and procedures for capital project delivery; hands-on training in use of equipment and systems for project management and documentation of funds; and access to the latest electronic design, data and construction management software.
In-house design services are provided for small capital improvement projects of up to $2 million, including minor renovations, space modifications, interior upfits, material selections and move management.
PDC’s responsibilities for capital improvement projects include development of project budgets, preparation of requests for qualifications and proposals, management of project design processes, conducting project bidding/contract award, construction management, the review/approval of contractor invoices, and serving as liaison between the University and the contractor community.
The Planning, Design and Construction unit works in conjunction with the University Budget Office to create and maintain budgets for each approved project; process all state budget revisions and allotments; validate payment of construction invoices; and provide periodic and special reports for capital improvement projects.
