NCCU Foundation, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) that receives private gifts and donations for the university. These gifts are utilized to increase educational opportunities and provide scholarship support for students. In addition, as an independent, charitable agency, the foundation can accept and liquidate non-cash gifts for the university that it may not be able to accept on its own.
The NCCU Foundation was incorporated on June 28, 1972, by the Secretary of State for the State of North Carolina. It was created under the leadership of Chancellor Albert N. Whiting in response to the University’s recognition that private support had to be encouraged in order for NCCU to maintain its quality and position of eminence among institutions of higher education.
The Board of Directors is an independent governing body for the development and approval of operating policies for the NCCU Foundation, Inc. The Foundation Board also provides philanthropic support to the University.
The NCCU Foundation provides assistance to the University and students through scholarships. Over the past three years, $3.5M has been awarded in scholarships.
The NCCU Foundation provides various services to clients in support of campus programs and scholarships, including a collection of online forms.
