Youth Program Registration

Programs and activities are covered by REG – 80.07.1 – Protection of Minors on Campus Regulation to ensure the safety of the minors in our care, and they must register with the Youth Programs and Camps at the NCCU office.

The determining factor regarding whether the activity or program falls under REG 80.07.1 depends on who is providing direct supervision for the care, custody and control of the minors while participating in North Carolina Central University activities.

You should begin your registration process no less than 60 days prior to the program start date. Below is a suggested timeline for registration.

• 60 days before the start of your program, request permission to host the program. Submit your request form at https://nccu.edu/form/nccu-camps-application-form.
• Allow at least two weeks for background checks, reference checks and driving checks to be completed.

• Upon receiving approval for your program, submit the Use of a Campus Facility Form to reserve a space on campus. Your space will only be considered approved after you receive written approval.
• After you receive approval for your program or camp, request the resources needed (e.g., library usage or travel support). Visit https://www.nccu.edu/youth-programs-and-camps-nccu/training-resources-and-faqs for more information.
• At least 30 days prior to the program start, complete the required training for camps and programs at NCCU.
• Be sure to have all program or camp leaders complete the training.
• No less than 30 days before the start of your program, you must provide the name, age and contact information (address, telephone number and email address) of each individual working in the program and having direct contact with minors in the program.
• No less than 25 days before the start of your program, all individuals contained in the list you provided to the Office must initiate the background check process.
  Note: All background checks must be complete no less than ten days prior to the start of your program.
• All individuals must have completed and submitted both training certificates no later than 10 days prior to the start date of the program, event or camp.

The mandatory training for all individuals working with minors through youth programs and camps offered on NCCU's campus is online and two-pronged. All training certificates must be submitted to [email protected].

Individuals must complete:

2. Prevent Child Abuse: North Carolina’s Recognizing and Responding to Suspicions of Child Maltreatment Online Training

Users may be required to set up an account with an external party platform to access the training materials and the required certificates issued at the conclusion of each.
