Each year, University College recognizes the exceptional achievements of outstanding students and staff through the University College Awards. The University College Staff and Student Awards provide recognition of our outstanding staff and students who represent the values of North Carolina Central University and uphold the mission of University College.

Members of the NCCU community are encouraged to nominate a colleague or student.

Staff Award Criteria

Exemplary Service in Student Support Award	Recognizes exemplary service for staff who provide direction and support for student programs and services, including academic, cultural, social and enrichment areas. Individuals assigned to positions in this job family provide direct assistance to students, parents and staff.	Currently employed at NCCU Has been employed at NCCU for at least one semester Has not previously received this award within the past four years
Dean’s Appreciation Award	Recognizes exemplary service for a faculty or staff member who supports the mission and goals of University College through collaborative partnerships, student engagement and continued support of various units.	Currently employed at NCCU but not employed within the University College Has been employed at NCCU for at least one semester Has not previously received this award within the past four years
Exemplary Service in Administrative Support	Recognizes exemplary service for an administrative staff member who embodies proficiency, professionalism and dedication to University College staff and students.	Currently employed at NCCU Has been employed at NCCU for at least one semester Has not previously received this award within the past four years
Exemplary Service in Leadership	Acknowledges and celebrates an exemplary leader within University College who has had a significant and positive impact on advancing the goals of the department and supporting the needs of students, staff and campus partners.	Currently employed at NCCU in a leadership position Has been employed at NCCU for at least one semester Has not previously received this award within the past four years

Student Award Criteria

Exemplary Service: Graduate Student	Awarded to one outstanding graduate student employee who has demonstrated service to University College and shown a commitment to NCCU students, faculty and staff through their work.	Currently enrolled at NCCU as a graduate student and has an assistantship role within University College Has been a student at NCCU for at least one semester Has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above Has not previously received this award
UC SOAR Award: Undergraduate Student	Awarded to one outstanding freshman or sophomore student who has demonstrated service to the University and shows potential for future leadership and success	Currently enrolled at NCCU Has been a student at NCCU for at least one semester Has less than 60 earned hours Has a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above Demonstrates a special contribution to NCCU in the areas of leadership and service through participation in campus activities Has not previously received this award

Eligibility

Anyone with assigned advisor responsibilities at North Carolina Central University may be nominated. Nominees must show a noteworthy impact on student learning and retention, demonstrate best practices when working with undergraduate students and present innovative and sustainable contributions.

Nominees will be notified by March 25 and instructed to submit their corresponding documentation by April 8.
