The main foci of the low-energy nuclear physics research program at the NCCU are: 1) Compton scattering on nuclear and nucleon targets which provides an opportunity to perform stringent tests of the predictions of Chiral effective-field theories. This program will make model independent measurement of the proton’s electromagnetic polarizabilities as well as the neutron EM polarizabilities; 2) Provide a two- and three-body triton and 3He photodisintegration data. These data will enable comparison to ab initio three-nucleon calculations without the complication of having to treat the Coulomb interaction.
