In September 2020, IBM launched its first Quantum education and research initiative for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), designed to build a skilled workforce in the field of quantum computing. As part of the Skills Academy Academic Initiative within IBM’s Global University Programs, this multi-year effort includes a donation of more than $100 million in assets — such as guest lectures, curriculum content, digital badges, software, and faculty training — to select HBCUs. North Carolina Central University is proud to be among the institutions participating in this initiative.
