Office of Research Compliance and Technology Transfer

• Monitor all NC Central University research activities to assure compliance with relevant federal, state, and local regulations and university policies and procedures. 
• Address existing and potential hazards to compliance.
• Support faculty, staff, and students with training and resources to establish an environment of accountability and integrity while encouraging scientific discovery, innovation, and safety.
• Protect the University’s intellectual property and facilitate opportunities for the commercialization of new knowledge and technologies.
• Protect faculty, staff, and students who are reporting occurrences of noncompliance.

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) protects the rights, welfare, and privacy of humans involved in research activities and ensures compliance with federal regulations and institutional policy. The IRB has the authority to approve, disapprove, suspend, terminate, monitor, and require modifications in all human subjects research activities initiated, promoted, and supported by or at North Carolina Central University.

The human research educational program is available for free for facility, staff, students, and collaborators of North Carolina Central University through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) program.

The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) protects the welfare of animals involved in research and provides oversight of the animal program, facilities, and procedures at North Carolina Central University. The (IACUC) has the authority to approve, disapprove, suspend, terminate, monitor, and require modifications in all animal subjects research activities initiated, promoted, and supported by or at NC Central University.
