Objectives of the OACC
Objectives
The OACC has three core objectives.
- Coordinating Center. The OACC supports the efforts of five North Carolina Collaboratory opioid abatement projects by providing operational support.
- Community Engagement. The OACC works closely with each project site to establish partnerships with community-based organizations and agencies to (1) aid in the design and implementation of more effective interventions to treat opioid use disorder and to reduce the harm associated with opioid use (e.g., unintentional overdose); (2) create impactful educational materials that increase awareness and understanding about the dangers of opioid use; and (3) provide access to services and resources. The OACC seeks to build a network that includes community-based organizations, local and state agencies, and universities to support community efforts to prevent and treat opioid use disorder and overdose.
- Communications. The OACC serves as a hub for information on opioid abatement efforts in North Carolina. Our goal is to disseminate information about evidence-based strategies for preventing and treating opioid use disorder and harm reduction.
