What: “A Need Fulfilled” tells the story of the 600 brave black women who fought for the right to serve their country as nurses in World War II. The musical drama, first performed at NCCU in spring 2019, exemplifies the experiences of black military service members throughout American history. Acclaimed playwright and NCCU Theatre Professor Arthur M. Reese combined historic artifacts, letters, pictures along with a lively period-inspired soundtrack to revisit the events of the war on the nurses’ lives.
