North Carolina Central University (NCCU) has been recognized as a 2024 ALL IN Most Engaged Campus for College Student Voting by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge (ALL IN). This national recognition highlights NCCU’s efforts to boost nonpartisan student voter participation. NCCU is among 471 colleges and universities honored for completing four key steps:
- Participating in the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge
- Sharing campus voting data from the 2022 National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement (NSLVE) with ALL IN
- Developing and submitting a 2024 democratic engagement action plan
- Signing the Higher Education Presidents’ Commitment to Full Student Voter Participation
At NCCU, encouraging civic participation among students is a priority. This year, the university collaborated with the Eagle Card Office to offer free ID reprints for students with faded cards, ensuring they could meet voter ID requirements. Students received reminders about voter registration deadlines through social media and email campaigns.
The university and student organizations also hosted several nonpartisan voter engagement events leading up to Election Day, including ‘Votecoming’ where students, led by the Sound Machine Marching Band, marched to the on-campus polling site to cast their votes and ‘CIVIC in Color’, a panel featuring Divine Nine Greek organizations emphasized the importance of every voice in shaping the future.
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge supports colleges and universities in fostering nonpartisan civic learning and voter engagement. Currently, the initiative involves more than 1,075 institutions and 10.8 million students across all 50 states and Washington, D.C.
