My Eagle Family:
It is with deep sadness that I share Jordan Keith Thomas, a junior online business administration major, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 26.
Jordan was a driven and hardworking student with a vision for his future—he aspired to own a transportation company and worked tirelessly toward that goal. He balanced a full-time job along with two part-time positions, demonstrating unwavering dedication and perseverance. Beyond his work ethic, Jordan was a vibrant soul, full of warmth and kindness. He had a huge heart and an infectious personality, never meeting a stranger and always bringing joy to those around him.
A man of deep faith, Jordan’s love for God and his church was central to his life. As a gifted musician, he played the keyboard and sang, using his talents to uplift and inspire others. His amazing sense of humor, fun-loving spirit, and boundless compassion made him a cherished friend, classmate and community member. Following in the footsteps of his older siblings and mother, who also graduated from NCCU, Jordan was proud to be an Eagle.
Jordan’s life will be celebrated with a viewing on Saturday, Feb. 1, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Hester, Whitted and Daye Funeral Service at 603 South Main St., Roxboro, N.C. His funeral service will take place on Sunday, Feb. 2, at noon (with a visitation from 11 a.m. to noon), at the Greater Covenant Church of Jesus Christ, at 334 Industrial Dr., also in Roxboro.
We understand that grief is a deeply personal journey, and we encourage our community to seek support if needed. Counseling appointments can be arranged by calling 919-530-7646 or visiting the Student Health Building, 2nd Floor, Monday through Thursday, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Friday, 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. Drop-in hours are available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., although there may be a wait time during these hours. Additionally, crisis management services are offered after 5 p.m. through the same contact number. Faculty and staff may utilize the ComPsych guidance resources on the university’s HR page.
During this time, let us honor Jordan’s memory and offer our deepest condolences to all who were touched by his incredible spirit. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
In Truth and Service,
Dr. Karrie G. Dixon
