Volunteers to package meals, diapers and create blankets and reading mats

North Carolina Central University (NCCU) will honor the legacy of the late Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. with its annual day of service on Saturday, Jan. 18, 2025.

The event, sponsored by NCCU’s Office of Community Engagement and Service and BlueCross BlueShield of North Carolina, runs from 8:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the LeRoy T. Walker Physical Education and Recreation Sports Complex at 617 Nelson St. in Durham.

Volunteers from the university and Durham communities will team up to prepare meal packages for underserved households, assemble diapers for daycare needs, create reading mats for school-age children, and make no-sew blankets for sick children, individuals experiencing homelessness, and military veterans and their families.
