Where Is Preferred First Name Displayed?

A preferred first name may be used, as possible, in these locations:

  • My Information
  • Employee Self Service 9
  • Faculty and Advisor Self Service 9—Course Rosters, Faculty Grade Entry, Student Profile
  • Student Self Service 9
  • Navigate (EAB)
  • Banner
  • Diploma*
  • NCCU Email
  • Degree Works
  • NCCU Directory (Public)
  • Office 365 Applications/Teams

* In the United States, the diploma is a ceremonial document. International students should use their legal names on their diplomas. Foreign countries may consider the diploma a legal document.

Places a preferred first name will not appear include (but are not limited to) these locations:

  • Eagle Card
  • Financial Aid
  • Official Transcripts
  • Student Health Insurance
  • Cashier/Student Accounts and Payroll
  • National Student Clearinghouse, Enrollment and Degree Verification
  • Emergency Services and Campus Police
  • Any behavior or discipline record
  • Any business or other process that may require the use of the legal name
  • Any legal or other requirement that may result in the use of the legal name
