SOAR advising for University College students (freshmen and transfer students with less than 52 credit hours) will take place during your scheduled SOAR date. Due to the large number of students attending SOAR, academic advising will only consist of 5–10 minutes per student. However, you will have the opportunity to follow up with your temporary advisor if you have any questions. During your first semester, advising sessions will typically be 30–40 minutes.
University College students who do not attend advising during their specified time risk being dropped from their enrolled courses. Speaking with an advisor during SOAR is required for University College students.
The University College advising team will complete schedules on your behalf based upon the following factors: course availability, major declared, Advance Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), TOEFL, Early College (EC) or Transfer (TR) credits as indicated on your high school transcript, completed ACT/SAT scores and modern foreign language placement scores. Instructions on how to review your schedule will be provided during SOAR.
Our University College advisors are experts on the University’s curriculums and knowledgeable about degree requirements for various majors. The advising team will complete schedules on your behalf based upon the following factors: course availability, major declared, Advance Placement (AP), International Baccalaureate (IB), TOEFL, Early College (EC) or Transfer (TR) credits as indicated on your high school transcript, completed ACT/SAT scores and modern foreign language placement scores.
We know you may have several questions regarding your schedule and may want to request adjustments. However, due to current course availability and restrictions, options are limited. Therefore, schedule adjustments will only be permissible based on the following factors:
Orientation is designed to answer many of the questions you may have about being a new Eagle. You will have an opportunity during SOAR to ask questions.
Permanent advisor assignments will be issued during the second week of classes. However, the advisor who you work with during SOAR will remain your primary point of contact for advising until your permanent assignment is provided. A welcome communication will be sent to you in mid to late August from your permanent advisor.
