Overview
In 2015, the North Carolina Central University (NCCU) School of Law established the Intellectual Property Law Institute (IPLI) in an effort to boost minority representation in the area of Intellectual Property (IP) law.
With an emphasis on "Truth, Justice, and Service," IPLI has a targeted objective of not only expanding the pool of IP attorneys but also providing representation of intellectual property protections to underserved and underrepresented diverse communities. IPLI strives to close the technology transfer gap existing between similarly situated communities by exposing undergraduate students to the areas of copyrights, trademarks, patents, technology transfer, licensing and technology innovations for advancing entrepreneurship.
As an institute of the law school, IPLI is strategically poised to transfer legal skills from faculty and students to the community at large through seminars, workshops, and other programs where they can interact with subject matter experts and discuss leading IP issues, strategies, and resources.
