The Justice Empowerment Series is an initiative of the Social Justice and Racial Equity Institute (SJREI) that leverages technology to provide quarterly lecture series and trainings to diverse communities and constituencies. The lectures and panels address topics concerning social justice and racial equity by imminent scholars, lawyers, and activists.
The events may be attended in person or virtually through SRJEI’s virtual telepresence technology. The Justice Empowerment Series also provides trainings to lawyers, law students, paralegals, and community advocates to advance social justice and racial equity in the law.
Housed within the NCCU Law Clinical programs, the SJREI is able to provide legal services through students under the supervision of SJREI lawyers. Through the Justice Empowerment Series, the SJREI advances a model of community lawyering with lawyers working with community organizers to provide direct assistance to people in need while also identifying policies for systemic change from the experience of directly impacted persons.
