WNCU Radio Station Renovation
Project Scope
The current footprint for the WNCU Radio Station includes the radio production area and the student production area, with the possibility of adding 250 square feet. The current station is outdated, the HVAC needs to be upgraded, and the fire alarm panel will need to be relocated to accommodate the design request. The renovation will include the following: possible hazardous materials abatement, new acoustics in the production rooms, relocation of programming production studios to make them more visible and accessible, updates to the student production facility, ensuring the common areas are flexible and upgrading the IT/AV and production equipment to accommodate COVID-19 requirements. The owner would like to match the existing TV studio entrance to balance the look of the main lobby at Farrison-Newton. WNCU will still be in production while renovation occurs, so the designer must coordinate swing space within the facility. This project will bring the program up to current technology standards and significantly improve the student experience.
