North Carolina Central University's Jazz Studies Program hosts Student Combos and Large Ensemble concerts each fall semester.
Our concerts this year are in two locations. Those on Monday, 11/14, and Tuesday, 11/15, are in B.N. Duke Annex, New Band Room. The concerts feature our students in Combo 1 (directed by Professor Robert Trowers), Combo 2 (directed by Professor Damon Brown), Combo 3 (directed by Professor Thomas Taylor), and the Vocal Jazz Combo (directed by Professor Maurice Myers), as well as Jazz Ensemble 2 (directed by Dr. Aaron Hill).
On Thursday, 11/17, the NCCU Jazz Ensemble (directed by interim director Professor Robert Trowers), and NCCU Vocal Jazz Ensemble (directed by Dr. Lenora Helm Hammonds) will perform at Penn Pavillion, 107 Union Drive, Durham, NC, 27710, on Duke University's campus, in collaboration with Duke Jazz Program and Duke Arts.
We will play the music of many jazz composers and arrangers, including our fallen faculty, Dr. Brian Horton and Mr. Arnold George.
All concerts are suggested donation and begin at 7:30 pm. Doors open at 7 pm.
