North Carolina Central University (NCCU) is excited to host its inaugural Black Male Mental Health Summit on Friday, Feb. 28, 2025, at NCCU Student Center, 500 Nelson St. The event’s theme, “Reclaiming Strength: Empowering Black Men’s Mental Health,” will engage attendees through keynote presentations, panel discussions, and hands-on workshops.
This summit is designed to address the pressing mental health challenges impacting Black males within our campus and community. By promoting open and honest dialogue, raising awareness of these critical issues, and fostering meaningful connections, the summit seeks to empower participants — including students, faculty, staff, and community members — while linking them to essential support networks and resources.
NCCU’s very own Dr. Tryan McMickens, associate professor and program coordinator for higher education administration, a highly regarded scholar and lead co-editor of the first issue of Black College Men’s Mental Health, will serve as the distinguished keynote speaker. McMickens brings a wealth of expertise and national recognition, making his keynote address invaluable to this summit.
