Dr. Zheng is an associate professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences who holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from UNC's Eshelman School of Pharmacy, specializing in chemical biology and medicinal chemistry. His professional journey has included experiences at GSK and Eli Lilly, where he worked extensively in the field of informatics, data sciences, AI/machine learning and computational drug discovery.
In recent years, he has collaborated closely with researchers at UNC-Chapel Hill and RENCI, focusing on the development and utilization of biomedical knowledge graphs for innovative drug repurposing strategies. His work also extends beyond drug repurposing and encompasses collaborations with NCCU colleagues such as Drs. KP Williams and John Scott in cancer drug discovery, Drs. Ibeanu and Andy Li in neurodegeneration research, and Dr. Kumar in health disparity projects.
