Tia Marie Doxey
With over 25 years of experience in higher education, Tia Marie Doxey has built a career defined by innovation, mentorship, and a steadfast commitment to student success. As the interim associate provost for institutional research and analysis and chief data officer at North Carolina Central University, she leads with vision and strategy, harnessing the power of data to drive institutional effectiveness and student achievement.
Tia’s expertise spans institutional research, strategic planning, program evaluation, and student retention — all of which she leverages to shape policies that enhance academic performance and operational efficiency. She has held leadership roles at Research 1 institutions as well as mid-sized and small Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), bringing a deep understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities in higher education.
A trailblazer in her field, Tia has managed multimillion-dollar budgets, supervised multifunctional teams, and spearheaded initiatives that have transformed institutional research and student engagement. Her contributions were recognized when she was honored as the University College Campus Partner of the Year (2024) and as a recipient of the National Organization for Women’s “Women Who Changed the World” award.
Beyond her administrative leadership, Tia is a dedicated mentor and educator, shaping the next generation of professionals through her roles as an adjunct instructor and consultant. Her work in data literacy, survey research, and strategic assessment has positioned her as a thought leader, frequently presenting at national conferences and serving on critical committees.
