Scott R Singeisen
Scott Singeisen is an associate professor of architecture at North Carolina Central University and a Duke University digital humanities fellow. Prior to joining NCCU, Singeisen taught at the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) for twenty years and was chair of the Architecture Department from 2007 to 2012.
At SCAD, Singeisen’s teaching concentrated on graduate and undergraduate design studios that focus on the design process, communication, and representation. Singeisen’s academic work has been presented at conferences such as the 7th International Workshop on Social Intelligence Design, the 16th Annual US/ICOMOS Scientific Symposium; international, national, and regional venues of the Association of Collegiate Schools of Architecture; and the National Conference on the Beginning Design Student; his work has also been featured in multiple media outlets, including USA Today and Design Intelligence.
In June of 2007, Singeisen was a teaching fellow at the University of Hawaii in conjunction with the 7th International Symposium on Asia Pacific Architecture hosted by the School of Architecture, Honolulu. Additionally, Singeisen is on the editorial board of FORMA CIVITATIS, on the International Advisory Board, the International Centre for Heritage Studies, Girne American University, and is a board member of the Design Communication Association.
Singeisen was in practice in Sarasota and Orlando, Florida, where he received multiple awards for design and preservation projects throughout the region and was a visiting design critic at major public universities. Singeisen is a founding partner of Jasper Design, a design-centered practice. His most recent projects include a 62,000 sq. ft. business school for a new college campus in the Kingdom of Bahrain, a cocktail bar in Savannah, Georgia, and new offices and a STEM maker space for the Girl Scouts of Historic Georgia.
