Sean C Colbert-Lewis
As an associate professor of history and education, Dr. Colbert-Lewis serves North Carolina Central University’s History Department as its director of teacher education. In this role, Dr. Colbert-Lewis serves as the program coordinator for the Comprehensive Social Studies academic concentration for those history majors working towards a history baccalaureate degree and an initial secondary social studies education license. He also serves as the academic advisor for the history majors in the Comprehensive Social Studies academic concentration.
Moreover, Dr. Colbert-Lewis teaches courses in American history, world history, and social studies pedagogical methods for elementary, middle grades, and secondary social studies pre-service teachers. Dr. Colbert-Lewis holds education certifications in North Carolina for both school administration and secondary social studies 9–12 teaching. He also holds an active and coveted National Board Certification (NBCT) for teaching secondary social studies since 2011.
Furthermore, Dr. Colbert-Lewis has expertise in creating original curricula and improving existing curricula within the disciplines of history, K-12 social studies, K-12 social studies teacher education, educational leadership, educational policy studies, K-12 supervision and administration, and higher educational leadership and administration. He enjoys helping shape the lives of individuals seeking careers as licensed K-12 teachers, K-12 school principals, local and state-level superintendents, college professors, and college administrators.
