Michael A Bailey
North Carolina Central University (NCCU) has named Mr. Michael A. Bailey as director of Undergraduate Admissions. Mr. Bailey serves in the divisions of Academic Affairs and Enrollment Management. He is responsible for a number of key activities, including planning and participating in high-profile recruitment activities, programs and events; monitoring the application processes; and providing leadership to the Undergraduate Admissions and Transfer Services staff who market NCCU to diverse groups of prospective students, parents and educators.
Mr. Bailey has served in several roles since joining NCCU in 1997, including admissions counselor, associate director of Undergraduate Admissions, special assistant to the vice chancellor for Student Affairs, associate director of First-Year Student Orientation, interim director of the A.E. Student Union and transportation coordinator. Mr. Bailey has worked in higher education for over 20 years, lending his expertise to the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Fayetteville State University, Purdue University (main campus), Brunswick Community College and Halifax Community College. He also served in the administrations of Governor James B. Hunt and Governor Beverly E. Perdue, where he was appointed to sit on several boards for the Department of Commerce and Department of Public Instruction.
Mr. Bailey was recognized as an invaluable contributor to the administration of Gov. Perdue for his efforts in advancing education and workforce development for North Carolina residents. A native of Fayetteville, N.C., Mr. Bailey holds bachelor's degrees in political science and public administration from NCCU and a master’s degree in human services executive leadership from Liberty University. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in higher education administration at Liberty University.
