Lisa Kamarchik

Lisa Kamarchik, an Illinois native, received her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Criminal Justice from Illinois State University in 2000. In 2006, she received her Juris Doctor from the NCCU School of Law Evening Program while working as a paralegal at a large law firm. While at NCCU, she was an editorial member of NCCU’s Law Review, president of NCCU’s Association of Trial Lawyers of America, and a contributing member of the Innocence Project.

After law school, Professor Kamarchik limited her practice to family law and family law appeals in Wake and its surrounding counties. In 2013, Professor Kamarchik received the Charles F. Blanchard Young Lawyer of the Year Award for outstanding volunteer service in the North Carolina Bar Association Young Lawyers Division (YLD). She chaired the YLD Domestic Issues Committee between 2009–2011, acted as a YLD Division Director between 2012–2014, published multiple articles in the Family Forum newsletter, and discussed family law topics at Continuing Legal Education programs. While practicing, she also served as an adjunct legal writing professor at the NCCU School of Law for three years and taught Family Law and Torts in the paralegal program at UNC Chapel-Hill for two years.

Prior to joining NCCU School of Law as a full-time faculty member in August 2016, Professor Kamarchik was a board-certified family law specialist. Professor Kamarchik is affiliated with the North Carolina State Bar, the North Carolina Bar Association Family Law Section, the American Bar Association, the Wake County Bar Association, the Tenth Judicial District Bar, and the Legal Writing Institute.

She continues to serve on various committees for the state and national bars, coaches moot court teams, and volunteers regularly as a Wake County Capital Area Teen Court judge. Professor Kamarchik enjoys, inter alia, reading mystery novels, sailing, camping, and snow-skiing.
