Jennifer Wiley

Jennifer Wiley is a clinical instructor in the Department of Criminal Justice at North Carolina Central University. She earned a master’s degree in Criminal Justice from New Mexico State University, a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from West Chester University of Pennsylvania, and a certificate in project management from the University of North Carolina Pembroke. She also holds a Quality Matters Master Peer Reviewer Certification, a Quality Matters Teaching Online Certificate, and a Certificate in Effective College Instruction from the Association of College and University Educators and the American Council on Education (ACUE). Currently, Jennifer is finishing a second master's degree in Learning Design and Technology from North Carolina State University.

Jennifer served in the field as a sex offender probation parole officer for the North Carolina Department of Adult Corrections-Community Corrections in Raleigh North Carolina, acquiring special training in computer searches and the Static-99 Risk Assessment tool. Through her fieldwork, she developed interest in the efficacy of the risk assessment tools and the innovative use of technology for monitoring this unique population in our communities.

Jennifer later served as one of the first field training officers contributing to the design and development of a training curriculum for probation parole Officers in North Carolina. This experience not only affirmed her commitment to professional development but also positioned her to elevate her impact as the basic law enforcement training (police) academy director overseeing the development of aspiring police officers. Today, she remains in higher education in the criminal justice discipline, using her summers to engage in international criminal justice-based opportunities such as a small police department in Mexico and a law enforcement agency in Kenya.

Jennifer is a member of the International Prisons and Corrections Association, the Professional Criminologist Association of Kenya, the American Probation Parole Association, and the Quality Matters Instructional Designers Association.
