Ja’Quez Taylor is a transformational leader and passionate advocate for education and student success. He is dedicated to preparing lifelong learners for academic achievement and successful college and career journeys. Taylor holds a bachelor's degree in liberal studies with a concentration in African American history from North Carolina A&T State University and is currently pursuing his second master's degree in curriculum and instruction.
Taylor began his career as the CEO and director of a tutoring education service and school partnership organization he founded in Thomasville, N.C. He taught elementary education in Dallas, Texas, and Greensboro, N.C., before serving as an impact manager and coach for an educational nonprofit supporting students and schools with near-peer mentors in Miami-Dade County Public Schools. Taylor has also served as director of elementary programs, program director, and K-12 education consultant.
He is currently a candidate-elect for the Thomasville City Schools Board of Education. This election will mark a historic moment for Thomasville, N.C., as it is the first time citizens will elect their school board members. Taylor was honored and nominated as one of South Florida’s Top Black Educators for the 2021–2022 academic year.
A native of Thomasville, N.C., by way of Lauderdale Lakes, Fla., Taylor enjoys traveling, spending time with friends, reading, researching, shopping, and expressing his creativity through fashion.
