Jarvis A Hall

Dr. Jarvis A. Hall is an associate professor of political science at North Carolina Central University in Durham, North Carolina. From 2006 to 2015, he was director of the Institute for Civic Engagement and Social Change at North Carolina Central. Prior to becoming director of the Institute, Dr. Hall chaired the Department of Political Science from 1998 to 2005. In addition, he served as director of the Academic Community Service Learning Program from 2006 to 2008 at NCCU.

Dr. Hall attended North Carolina A and T State University as an undergraduate and received his Master of Public Policy degree from the University of Michigan. Later, Dr. Hall earned his doctorate in political science from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He works with several political and policy organizations on progressive policy issues. He served as the chair of the Political Action Committee of the North Carolina NAACP for two years. Also, he has served on the boards of the National Civic League, the North Carolina Center for Voter Education, the North Carolina American Civil Liberties Union, and the Carolina Justice Policy Center.

Dr. Hall has taught at North Carolina A and T State University, St Lawrence University and Washington and Lee University. He has been at North Carolina Central University since 1995. His teaching and research interests include African American politics, social movements, grassroots politics, civil rights, public policy, and electoral behavior.

He is married to Rosalind Fuse-Hall, and they have a daughter named Ifetoya (Toya), which means "Love Brings Happiness."
