Danye N Medhin
Danye Medhin is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice at North Carolina Central University, recently joining the faculty in the fall of 2023. Mr. Medhin teaches courses in quantitative research methods and statistics, with a heightened focus on causal design and estimation.
Danye holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees from NCCU in criminal justice and is scheduled to acquire his PhD from Georgia State's Andrew Young School of Policy Studies in the summer of 2024. His research investigates the impacts of cannabis policy changes, including enforcement outcomes and behavioral shifts across varying demographic groups. His work includes major contributions to a NIDA-funded project that saw the development of an online tool that maps the evidence on cannabis policy interventions and outcomes.
Mr. Medhin encourages students to engage in criminal justice policy research and inspires them to thoughtfully wield data to answer pertinent questions. Despite his recent arrival on the faculty, Danye’s innovative teaching methods and impactful research contributions are already making significant strides.
