Ms. Williams is an adjunct professor of Sociology at North Carolina Central University with over 10 years of transformative teaching experience in higher education. She is actively involved with professional organizations such as the American Sociological Association, the Association of Black Sociology, the North Carolina Sociological Association, and the National Institution for the Study of Transfer Students. Known for her insightful, engaging, and thought-provoking approach to teaching, Ms. Williams is committed to providing a classroom environment that upholds the integrity and principles of sociology.
Her primary focus is on the experiences of Black women in America, a field she began studying in 2012 with her thesis, "The Socially Constructed Status of Black Women in America: A Critical Analysis Based on Major Works by Black American Sociologists," published in 2014. Ms. Williams believes sociology is an essential tool for understanding critical issues and societal problems at their structural roots. She encourages students to deepen their understanding and consider whether issues are personal troubles or public concerns.
