Adrienne L Meddock
Adrienne Lea Meddock was born in Oxford, Ohio, in 1962. She received her A.B. from the University of North Carolina in 1984, and her J.D. summa cum laude from North Carolina Central University in 1991.
Dean Meddock teaches Property, Global Intellectual Property, Intellectual Property, Advanced Torts (Relational Injuries), and Entertainment Business Law. She has also worked closely with Carolina Dispute Settle Services in offering NC Superior Court Mediation 40-hour training in the evenings. She coached the Trademark Moot Court in their wins of the 2001 and 2012 South Regionals in the International Trademark Association (INTA) Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition and acts as advisor for the Intellectual Property Law Society. In 2002, she earned a certificate from the General Course in Intellectual Property awarded by the UN’s World Intellectual Property Law Organization. In 2010, her proposal brought the United States Patent and Trademark Office's (USPTO’s) Pilot Clinical Program for Law Students to NCCU as one of the first 16 schools in the nation selected to participate.
She has served as the assistant dean for the Evening program since 1994. In 1998, she was one of three NCCU academic managers selected for the UNC-system-sponsored University Management Training Program offered through Kenan-Flagler School of Business. She has worked closely with accreditation reporting and assessment for the school.
Dean Meddock is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the South Carolina State Bar (inactive). She serves on the Board of Directors of the Triangle Intellectual Property Law Association and is a former board member for the Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. She is a frequent presenter to artists and attorneys on intellectual property issues. She is a member of the the American Bar Association, the North Carolina Bar Association, the INTA, and the American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA).
Dean Meddock is a member of the original band “The Beef People” and was a vocalist for “Bloom” from 1990–1992, each of which produced limited edition recordings. She has also served as a disk jockey for college stations, booked bands, and worked in record production and distribution. Her love of punk, new wave, and DIY music is the subject of a podcast, Singles Going Steady, which she produces and presents with her bandmate.
