NC Central is poised to continue building off of its 2018-2019 TDM program, the Eagle Commuter Assistance Program (E-CAP). The official mission of E-CAP is “to create a better commute for all Eagles by changing the paradigm around how one travels to and from campus.” Our focus is on disseminating information for two groups: employees and students; we aim to optimize modes for getting to campus and getting around campus.
The Transportation Department’s top goal is to build upon successes in marketing and cross campus transportation by continuing to support ridership of GoTriangle transit and campus shuttles. For the 2018-19 grant year, time was spent developing a baseline of how different modes were being utilized. Now, we would like to encourage more of what worked to build upon the baseline. A second goal includes building the network of Share the Ride NC users to create more sales of carpool and vanpool parking passes in lieu of individual passes. While discussions around parking continue as the prices for annual passes increases, E-CAP is focusing its efforts on advocating for increased utilization of existing parking infrastructure and including daily pay stations for commuters in addition to providing timely subsidies on alternative options at the beginning of the school year and at the mid-point in the year.
