Residence halls will close on Saturday, March 2, 2024, at 12 p.m. (noon) and begin to reopen on Saturday, March 9, 2024, at 12 p.m. (noon). Students should follow the steps below to ensure their room is properly prepared for spring break.

Things to Do Before Leaving for Spring Break:
- Take out all trash to the trash dumpster.
- Do not unplug the University-provided full-size refrigerator in the apartment/suite.
- Thermostats:
- Annie Day Sheppard, Ruffin, Chidley North, New Residence II, and Richmond: Thermostats should be set at 65 degrees.
- Eagle Landing, George Street Suites, Lawson Street Suites, and Alston Avenue Apartments: Thermostats should be set on auto, heat, at 65 degrees.
- If the room is located on a ground floor, please make sure the blinds are lowered and closed. All other floors should have the blinds lowered and opened.
- Remove all window coverings (draperies).
- Unplug all personal electronics/devices (students may leave personal refrigerators plugged in during spring break).
- Ensure all personal belongings are removed from the floor.
- Power off all lights (including stovetop, hallway, bathroom, etc.).
- Lock all windows.
- Lock all doors (if applicable).
Note: The University assumes no responsibility or liability for the personal property of students. This includes damage due to fire, water, theft, etc. Students desiring protection from incidental damages must make their own arrangements for insurance. Staff will be entering each room (in all residence halls) to verify all rooms are prepared for spring break.
Need Accommodations During Spring Break?
If students are in need of accommodations any time after the closing of the residence halls for spring break, they can submit a Spring Break Request in the Housing Portal under the Apply for Housing Section via myEOL.
