Beginning March 7, 2022, NCCU will follow the lead of public health experts and discontinue the requirement for masks indoors on campus with a few key exceptions:
- Those working in or seeking care in health care settings (including testing and vaccination)
- Persons who are required to wear a mask due to quarantine or isolation
- Public transportation, including campus shuttles
Those who would like to continue wearing a face covering are encouraged to do so. While the number of COVID-19 cases has dropped rapidly, health officials say face covering and vaccinations are an effective way to further reduce the likelihood of becoming infected.
Overall, the CDC recommends wearing the most protective mask that you can, ensuring that the mask fits well and finding one that can be worn consistently. A well-fitting mask should fit snugly against the sides of your face and not have gaps. The CDC also suggests having a mask with a nose wire to help you get a secure fit and prevent air from leaking out of the top of the mask.
