Welcome to the Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration, where the faculty and staff work diligently to offer the best experience during your academic career. Our distinguished faculty provide creative teaching experiences, valuable research that impacts the students and community around them, and hands-on experiential educational opportunities that lead to engaging and high-impact careers.
The Department of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration's mission is to prepare students to become practitioners and global leaders who transform communities. The department offers an enhanced curriculum, innovative instruction, distinct research activities, and diverse applied/experiential opportunities such as internships, practicums, service-learning, and community engagement. The Department values the comprehensive preparation of leaders and practitioners who positively impact the global community's well-being.
Currently, we house more than 450 students and more than 20 faculty. Our faculty come from diverse backgrounds incorporating global learning experiences and collaborative research involving our students. Students can engage in research with our faculty related to specialized topics within our fields of study.
The department offers undergraduate degrees in Sports Medicine, Kinesiology (with concentrations in fitness and wellness, strength and conditioning, and physical education); online Kinesiology (with a concentration in fitness and wellness); and Recreation Administration (with concentrations in parks and recreation management, recreational sports management with either a business minor or coaching minor, and recreational therapy). Students who are interested can apply for our Recreation Administration Accelerated Baccalaureate/Master’s degree program. Our graduate degree programs consist of Kinesiology and Recreation Administration with concentrations in athletic administration and recreation management as well as online Kinesiology and Recreation Administration with concentrations in adapted sports science and recreation, kinesiology and recreational therapy.
Students are well prepared to continue their educational experiences in physical therapy or occupational graduate schools or seek careers in the allied health sector, physical education, sport coaching, adapted sport administration/coaching, athletic administration, parks and recreation programs and Paralympic and Olympic positions throughout the world.
