Chancellor's Scholar FAQs
Info Accordions
To be eligible, students must have a minimum 3.3 weighted GPA on the high school transcript submitted for first-year admission into a baccalaureate program at NCCU. We strongly encourage students to apply and complete their enrollment applications early. Please note that due to high interest and demand, we have exhausted all Chancellor's Scholarship funds for the 2025-26 academic year.
Chancellor’s Scholarships are not applied for but are offered to selected students based on minimum eligibility requirements. It is then up to the student to accept or deny the offer, which will appear on their financial aid award only after they have confirmed their intent to enroll (non-binding) at the University and completed the FAFSA.
Students recognized as Soaring Eagle Chancellor’s Scholars will automatically be enrolled in the University Honors Program.
Rising Eagle and Eagle-in-Flight Chancellor's Scholars are welcome to apply for admission via the UHP application portal.
No, the Chancellor’s Scholarship Program is non-binding. Recipients will have until May 1 to confirm their attendance at NCCU.
The scholarship will contribute toward any outstanding amount a student may owe towards the cost of attendance. The scholarship will not cover additional deposits, mandatory fees or fines (orientation, housing, parking, library, etc.).
Scholarships will be renewed each semester contingent upon the recipient meeting all of the following criteria:
- Maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.3 (Soaring Eagle recipients) or 3.0 (Rising Eagle and Eagle-in-Flight recipients). Note: Any scholarship student admitted into the University Honors Program must maintain a cumulative 3.3 GPA.
- Enroll full-time each semester and earn a minimum of 15 credit hours each semester.
- Reside in University housing for the first two years enrolled.
- File the FAFSA on October 1 of each year.
Those Chancellor's Scholars who are admitted to the University Honors Program (UHP) reside in the University Honors Program living-learning community (LLC) in Benjamin Ruffin Hall; however, spaces in the LLC are limited, and UHP scholars are assigned in the order in which both enrollment and acceptance are finalized.
