The Department of Social Work prepares students to become generalist social work practitioners adept at working with diverse populations. We are committed to providing an experience that enables students to apply the profession's knowledge, values and skills to promote social and economic justice.

Social Work, B.S.W.

The Social Work B.S.W. provides a comprehensive study of social welfare systems, social work as a profession, social policy analysis, human behavior, the social environment, and practice methods, as well as an evaluation of practice and a field placement practicum.  Students finish the program with the skills needed for entry-level professional social work practice.

Social Work, M.S.W.

The Social Work M.S.W. program is a two-year, full-time program that prepares students to be advanced generalist practice leaders who deliver culturally competent services on local, national and global levels. We offer a traditional, advanced standing track that prepares students for micro-, mezzo- and macro-level practice.

The M.S.W. Graduate Student Association acts as a liaison between students and faculty to ensure the satisfaction and scholarship of graduate students. This student-led organization also develops internal programs and offers networking and professional development opportunities.

The mission of TSTM is to guide and engage social work students to become professional social workers. Mentors will be able to inspire and lead by example through ethical and transformative collaboration with mentees.

Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society

The Phi Alpha Honor Society provides a closer bond among social work students and promotes humanitarian goals and ideas. Phi Alpha fosters high standards of education for social workers and invites into membership those who have attained excellence in scholarship and achievement in social work.
