Our Distinguished Graduates
As an M.A.-granting department, we take pride in having over 90 graduates who have pursued doctoral degrees, with 18 current students actively engaged in doctoral studies at institutions such as Brown University, Columbia University, Indiana University, Michigan State University, Morgan State University, North Carolina State University, the Ohio State University, and the University of Houston, among others. Additionally, we have an established record of producing outstanding lawyers, business professionals, and secondary educators.

Located in the Research Triangle Park in historic Durham, North Carolina, our department benefits from the vibrant environment at North Carolina Central University (NCCU), the flagship HBCU in North Carolina. Our programs and our faculty's dedication have been instrumental in shaping the careers of our alumni, who now work at top institutions such as the National Museum of African American History and Culture, the National Park Service, the United Nations, and many prestigious universities.
