A highlight of our program is the annual juried art exhibition, where students have the opportunity to showcase their artistic talents to a wider audience through the NCCU Art Museum. This exhibition celebrates the creativity and skill of our students and allows them to receive recognition for their exceptional work.
Our department offers a required internship course that allows students to gain practical experience in their chosen field. Through internships, students have the chance to work alongside professionals and apply their skills in real-world settings, building valuable connections while honing their craft.
The Art and Design Club is a vibrant community within our department, and as an Art and Design major, students can actively participate in its activities. The Art and Design Club provides a platform for collaboration, networking, and creative exploration. Art faculty in our department understand the importance of exposure to diverse art forms and environments. They schedule field trips to art museums, enabling students to appreciate and learn from renowned works of art.
Students in Graphic Design and Innovation, as well as Animation and Interactive Media, have the advantage of visiting production studios and professional businesses engaged in designing visual media. Field trips to cities such as New York, Washington, and Atlanta offer the chance to explore major design firms, animation studios, art museums and galleries that provide invaluable inspiration and industry insights.
To further enrich your learning experience, we host an annual Art faculty lecture series where our esteemed faculty members share their expertise and insights. Additionally, we invite visiting professional artists to present their work and engage in discussions with our students. As an Art and Design major at NCCU, students also have the exciting opportunity to travel and study abroad during the summer months.
