Overview
The Office of Legal Affairs (OLA) provides preventative counseling and advice before legal problems arise in order to prevent or minimize the University’s liability. To this end, the OLA is available to provide education to the campus community about topics relevant to the University’s legal obligations to students, employees, and visitors. Common training topics include the following:
- FERPA and maintaining confidential student records
- Navigating NCCU’s Policies, Regulations, and Rules website
- The contract process
- Public records
- Legal landmines for managers and supervisors
- Conflicts of interest and commitment
To request that the OLA provide legal training to your office, department, or division on a particular topic, contact [email protected]. The OLA requires at least three to four weeks’ advance notice to schedule a presentation.
Presentations that Office of Legal Affairs personnel have made to the NCCU campus community include those listed in the following section.
