During the demonstration, you will see exactly what it is like to look through and use smart glasses in practical use. Our drone expert will demonstrate remotely controlled or software-driven flight plans while explaining the many functional uses of this flying robot!

Talos: Threat Intelligence and the Evolving Threat Landscape

Guest Speaker: William Largent
Cisco's Talos team specializes in early-warning intelligence and threat analysis necessary for defending networks against the ever-changing threat landscape. In this talk, we will cover how our team is built and look at some interesting threats and exploits, taking a look at the methods and techniques that both the attackers and defenders use to exploit or mitigate these attacks. We'll take a dive into the depths of writing exploits and finding vulnerabilities and discuss how writing exploits help defense. We'll point and laugh at hacker fails and even save some time to field questions.
William Largent is a threat researcher for Cisco Talos, with over 20 years of experience in information security having previously worked for the Cisco IPS Signature team, where he researched vulnerabilities and wrote signatures for Cisco security products. Previous to the Cisco IPS Signature team, William worked for Cisco Remote Managed Services in a vendor-agnostic environment. William has three awesome kids and the world’s most patient wife.

The Genesis of the Zero Trust Framework and Its Importance to Today’s Security Posture

Don’t miss one of the highlights of CSAM, the NCCU Cybersecurity Expert Discussion Panel with guest speaker John Kindervag. John joined ON2IT in March of 2021 as senior vice president of Cybersecurity Strategy and ON2IT Global Fellow. Previously, he was field chief technology officer (CTO) at Palo Alto Networks and a vice president and principal analyst at Forrester Research. John is considered one of the world’s foremost cybersecurity experts. He is best known for creating the revolutionary Zero Trust Model of Cybersecurity.
In 2021, John was named to the President’s NSTAC Zero Trust Sub-Committee and was a primary author of the NSATC Zero Trust report that is being delivered to the president of the United States. Additionally, John was named CISO Magazine’s 2021 Cybersecurity Person of the Year.
In 2022, John joined the Cloud Security Alliance as the security advisor to the chief executive officer (CEO) and the president, focusing on helping to bring Zero Trust Concepts to the cloud.
John has a practitioner background, having served as a security consultant, penetration tester and security architect. He has been interviewed and published in numerous publications and has also appeared on television networks. He is a frequent speaker at security conferences and events.

Week 4: Cybersecurity First!
Hactober Xscape Room: October 25, 26 and 27 (10 a.m.–5 p.m.)

Theme: The Black Phone
Your team was thrown into the Grabber’s basement dwelling. The Grabber is a demented magician best known for his sinister trick of making people disappear — permanently! A black phone is in the corner, and the line is cut so that no one can dial out. However, it keeps ringing somehow. Your team’s bravery and ability to work together under pressure will be tested by this adrenaline-fueled challenge. The sound of ghostly voices whisper hints on how to escape, but guests must tread carefully to outwit and outrun the Grabber’s twisted magic. Are you up for the challenge?
Be prepared for a fierce battle of minds, where you will clash with the mysteries of the dark and be taken to the edge of madness. You have just 45 minutes to escape this nightmare.
