Program Overview
The Middle Grades Education (MGE) BA program provides a rigorous program of study that integrates content knowledge, skills, and pedagogy. The MGE degree prepares candidates for teaching in public schools at the middle level (grades 6–9) and leads to an initial North Carolina teaching license.
As part of the program, undergraduates are required to complete two of the following academic core major options: language arts, social studies, mathematics, and science. A second degree option is also available for candidates who already hold a BA in a different field but would like to pursue a teaching license.
