Program Overview
The Literacy concentration (Elementary Education BA) prepares candidates for teaching and assessing literacy and language concepts for school-age children and adolescents. Candidates are exposed to literacy concepts such as reading foundations, reading comprehension, integration of reading and writing across the curriculum, and assessment of literacy skills.
The Elementary Education degree with a concentration in Literacy prepares candidates for teaching in public elementary schools and leads to an initial K–6 teaching license in the state of North Carolina. The Literacy concentration can also lead to Add-On Licensure in Reading.
