Program Overview
The English as a Second Language (ESL) concentration (Elementary Education BA) prepares candidates for working with school-age children who are English language learners. Candidates are exposed to a broad variety of concepts such as speech, linguistics, culture, and practical application in educational settings. The Elementary Education degree with a concentration in English as a Second Language prepares candidates for teaching in public elementary schools and leads to an initial K–6 teaching license in the state of North Carolina.
