Overview
The NCCU School of Law Day Program offers a rigorous and immersive experience designed to develop the skills and knowledge essential for a successful legal career. To earn a law degree, Day Program students complete six semesters, spanning three academic years, in an engaging, full-time curriculum that promotes deep learning and professional growth.
By accepting an offer of admission to the Day Program, students commit to a full-time course load that demands focus and dedication. Given the intensity of the program, any extensive work or outside commitments are discouraged, allowing students to fully engage in their legal studies. In alignment with American Bar Association Standard 305 (a)(iii), full-time students are limited to working no more than 20 hours per week to maintain academic excellence and meet program standards.
Classes for the Day Program typically meet on weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. during the fall and spring semesters, although some specialized courses are offered in the evening to accommodate varying interests and professional goals. Additionally, clinical litigation courses provide practical, hands-on experience each fall, spring, and summer, giving students a valuable opportunity to apply their knowledge in real-world settings. Day Program students may also, with the dean’s approval, enroll in select Evening Program courses during regular or summer sessions if space is available, allowing flexibility in fulfilling their academic objectives.
