History, M.A.

Program Overview

The History M.A. program offers concentrations in African history, African American history, African Diaspora history, European history, Latin American history, public history and United States history.

Via the curriculum, students develop expertise in writing, researching and analyzing historical changes. The program prepares students for careers in secondary and higher education, government, law and business. Many M.A. graduates pursue further study via doctoral programs in history.

Admission Requirements

The requirements for all applicants are as follows:

Online graduate admission application
$50 non-refundable application fee
Two letters of recommendation
Official transcripts of all schools attended (if you earned your degree from a non-U.S. school, please see the international applicant requirements)
A minimum GPA of 2.9
Statement of purpose or personal statement
Book review: details are contained within the online application (see the "Documents" section)
