William R. Moultrie serves as the associate dean for University College, the Academic Success and Enrichment Services department in the Division of Academic Affairs at North Carolina Central University (NCCU). In this appointment, Moultrie is responsible for providing NCCU students with quality academic support services and an interactive speaker series. His work with academic support has increased student usage of services and assisted in the continuous progression towards the University’s goal of 85% first-to-second-year retention rate. Also, he is responsible for managing the University College Title III budget of $1.4 million annually.
Under his leadership, Moultrie has secured/managed millions of dollars in grants and corporate gifts to support student-success initiatives. Furthermore, he has implemented an annual Graduate School Exposure Tour, where graduates of the University have been accepted into the most prestigious Research 1 graduate/professional programs across the country. His research interests include urban schooling, retention, persistence, graduation, student success, college access, and multiculturalism and diversity in higher education.
Moultrie finds time to remain active in academic and scholarly endeavors, publishing numerous papers and presenting research at dozens of national conferences and meetings. Recently, he was elected president of the Association of Deans and Directors of University Colleges and Undergraduate Studies.
