Deputy Director of Athletics, Alabama State University
Terrance Jones says sports has always been a part of his life, and he chose to pursue it as a profession when it seemed to be too much fun to be work. He was elevated to his current role as deputy director of intercollegiate athletics in December of 2018. In this role, he leads student-athletes and staff to reach their goals through sports while overseeing fundraising, strategic communications, marketing and human resources for athletics.
Mr. Jones previously served as the senior associate athletic director for external operations at Alabama State University and associate athletic director for marketing and promotions at Delaware State University. Additionally, he served his alma mater for more than five years as assistant director of marketing for NCCU Athletics.
Jones is a member of Minority Opportunities Athletic Association (MOAA), National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) and National Association of Athletics Development Directors (NADD). He volunteers by assisting with local elections in Montgomery, AL, participates with the “Read to Achieve” initiative in the Montgomery County Schools, volunteers with Special Olympics and speaks to youth all over the state of Alabama about the benefits of attending college.
A 2008 initiate of Omega Psi Phi’s Tau Psi Chapter, he is a member of the Durham Chapter of the NCCU Alumni Association and the Eagle Club and collaborates with members of the NCCU Athletics on local and national projects. He is the proud parent of Tadaisha Jones of Raleigh, NC.
