Philip Terry is a mental health professional whose heart is rooted in helping rural communities deal with mental health challenges. After graduating from NCCU, he spent a short time as a teacher, successfully working with “at risk” children. This experience ignited a passion that led him to transition to a career in mental health, where he realized that many rural communities did not have the same resources found in larger cities. Philip began to develop companies geared towards filling those gaps.
Today, Philip is a full partner and regional director for Core Essentials, LLC, a company serving 11 North Carolina cities and whose mission is to provide holistic services to strengthen independence and restore sound family structures. He is also a founder and board member of Frontline Community Services, a non-profit that provides child welfare services.
Mr. Terry has served his community as a volunteer with Urban Ministries Homeless Shelter and Meals on Wheels, a board member for Durham County Men Health Council, and a children’s counselor at Kings Park Church, among other things. A member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Philip has served as an undergraduate advisor for the NCCU Tau Psi Chapter and recently helped coordinate the Tau Psi Endowment, which has raised over $350,000 for NCCU scholarships.
