Nakesha T. Smith is a native of Durham, NC. She shines not only as a loving sister and friend but also as a dedicated mother to three amazing daughters. She began her educational journey at North Carolina Central University, where she earned a BA in Psychology and a BS in Family Consumer Science. She is currently working on her Master of Psychology degree and anticipates graduating in 2021.
It is evident Nakesha is no stranger to hard work. She prides herself on uplifting and giving to others. She serves her community as a member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., and was a 2001 initiate of the Alpha Lambda Chapter. In addition to being a Pre-K teacher, she is also the independent director of Total Life Changes Health and Wellness, head cheerleading coach, and a co-leader of Girl Scout Troop 02398. Leadership positions have afforded her the opportunity to facilitate sharing sessions with her colleagues. These sessions help improve instructional practices and increase the development of teacher empowerment within grade-level teams and classrooms.
Nakesha brings an abundance of creativity and grit to the classroom and the field of education. A true standout in any crowd, there is no doubt why she is admired and treasured by students, parents, and colleagues.
